Horrible quality but I don't think this cinematic gem is ever going to get the cleaned up DVD treatment. Another teen sex comedy from the 80's this one had Allan Kayser, best known as "Bubba" in Mama's Family, in grey briefs and another guy in white briefs. Shame about the quality as this would have made a good scene. There are some decent shots farther down the post where they are hanging off a building.

I love the 80s underwear scenes. They just can't be replicated today. Especially those in the teen comedies (like LOOSE SCREWS 2 and SEX APPEAL) and horror movies (like HIDE AND GO SHRIEK and THE OUTING ((otherwise known as THE LAMP)). The VHS quality, I think, just adds to the scenes.
ReplyDeletethink I have a really bad copy of hide and go shriek. Is it just the one quick scene of the guy getting into bed after removing his underwear?
DeleteThe "virgin" character is in light blue bikini briefs on a bed, waiting for his girlfriend (who's about to be dead). There's another guy--a jock type. None of these three characters make it to the end. Then, later in the movie, the corpse of the virgin character is seen in his underwear again, since his killer stripped him and stole his clothes.

DeleteAnd just found this page. It reviews the movie and has a screen cap of the guy on bed in his bikini briefs. DeleteThanks! Saw it when I was a kid, and I believe it was the first movie in which I really began to notice the guys in briefs, so it's kind of special to me, if not a little nostalgic.
DeleteFWIW, this is a remake of sorts of the Last American Virgin three-guys-one-woman-one boyfriend scene, but with four guys. Sal Rubbo (the large guy from Last American Virgin) is in with her at the moment, but he does have a scene in a freezer later on. The small guy with glasses is Chuck Hemingway (first of three pictures, but he died young at 30) and I have never been able to figure out who the dark-haired kid was.

ReplyDeleteMama's Family showed Bubba in boxers but I knew there was no way that Allan Kayser could have worn boxers under those tight jeans. I'm sure in real life Allan definitely wore briefs! It was great to finally see pics of him in briefs.
